Christian is the son of Julio and Amalia Palmaz and is the Director of Operations for Palmaz Family Vineyards. Christian is completely hands-on in all aspects of the family business including a wide array of winery and vineyard activities. Christian can be seen giving private tours one day then harvesting or working on water management the next.
 
Whether in the vineyards or in the winery, Christian’s drive and passion to get the job done right is evident in every bottle of Palmaz wine, especially the limited release Gastón Cabernet, lovingly named after him. “I learned early on that in a winery, no matter what position you might hold, there is no job too great or too menial when crafting complex, elegant wines,” says Christian.
 
Christian gained an appreciation for food and fine wine early in his youth. He says, “Mom’s home cooking is enough to turn anyone into a foodie and my parents always enjoyed fine wines from all over the world at our evening meals. At the time, I was far too young to appreciate the type of training program I was being put through, but I definitely appreciate it now.”
 

Christian manages the 600-acre property in exhausting detail with his tight-knit vineyard and winery teams by his side. He says, “The people behind Palmaz Vineyards are our finest asset. I know that my crew are the best in the valley. I expect perfection from them and they deliver. In our eyes, they are family.”

Raised in San Antonio, Texas, Christian is a graduate of Trinity University where he finished with a BS in Business and gained an interest in geoscience. His application of highly sophisticated GIS (geographical information systems) in the vineyard allows him to better understand each of the unique terroir found on the property. “I believe that GIS is the future of farming. Making good decisions in vineyard management starts with a clear understanding about whats going on with the vines. We are constantly pushing the envelope of technology to get a clearer picture,” says Christian.

He lives on the Palmaz Estate with his lovely wife Jessica, and their dogs.
